چکیده

Using current, hydrographic and satellite observations collected off Northeast Brazil around the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago Rocas Atoll during two oceanographic cruises (spring 2015 fall 2017), we investigated general oceanic circulation its modifications induced by islands. In spring 2015, area was characterized lower SST (26.6°C) deep mixed-layer (∼90 m). At this depth, a strong current shear observed between central branch of eastward flowing near-surface South Equatorial Current westward Undercurrent. contrast, in 2017, higher (∼28.8°C) shallower (∼50 The Undercurrent weaker period. Interestingly, no oxygen-rich water from south (retroflection North undercurrent) region 2017. revealed presence an entrained reaching 2015. Beside these global patterns, island wake effects were noted. islands, particular Noronha, strongly perturbs features, with upstream core splitting reorganization single structures downstream Near flow disturbances impact thermohaline structure biogeochemistry, negative anomaly temperature (−1.3°C) salinity (−0.15) 200 400 m depth southeast side (station 5), where fluorescence peak (>1.0 mg –3 ) than at other stations located reinforcing influence flow-topography. Satellite maps sea-surface chlorophyll-a confirmed several submesoscale features study region. Altimetry data suggested cyclonic mesoscale eddy A vortex (radius 28 km) actually subsurface (150–350 depth) Atoll. This associated topographically separation. These are likely key processes providing enrichment to euphotic layer near supplying local productivity.

Apolar Compounds in Seaweeds from Fernando de Noronha Archipelago (Northeastern Coast of Brazil)

Hyphenated techniques of gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometer were used to determine fatty acids in eleven species of seaweeds from Fernando de Noronha archipelago. The main compounds detected in all studied species were the alcohol phytol and the fatty acids 14 : 0; 15 : 0; 16 : 0; 18 : 0; 18 : 1 n(9); 18 : 2 Δ(9,12); 20 : 4; 20 : 5. These fatty acids are commonly found in seaweeds ...

Isolation of Salmonella spp. in cattle egrets (Bubulcus ibis) from Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, Brazil.

The growth of the population of cattle egrets (Bubulcus ibis) in the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha constitutes a threat to public health and biological diversity because of their competition with and predation on native species and the possibility of transmission of pathogens to human beings, livestock and native wildlife. The aim here was to search for, isolate and identify serovars of Sa...

Wide-range genetic connectivity of Coney, Cephalopholis fulva (Epinephelidae), through oceanic islands and continental Brazilian coast.

The Epinephelidae form a group of species of high biological and economical interests. It´s phylogeographic patterns are not well known especially the distributed populations in the western region of the Atlantic Ocean. Among the representatives is a small species called Cephalopholis fulva, Coney, which presents a wide geographical distribution, polychromia, hermaphroditism and is quickly beco...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
